    Question Install KDE in ubuntu

    Hi all,

    I want to install the KDE environment on ubuntu 11.04. I did some looking and i think i have to type:
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install kde
    In order to install it.
    Correct me if that is wrong please.

    I have a few questions however:
    1. After i install KDE, will my ubuntu GNOME be fully functional as it is now?;
    2. Will any of my installed apps be deleted from Ubuntu GNOME?;
    3. Will i be able to run apps i have installed in Ubuntu GNOME, on KDE? eg. Wine apps such as MS Office, Dreamweaver, Photoshop; Other apps i downloaded from the software center such as gimp, adobe reader, skype, etc.

    Any advice would be really appreciated.
    Thanks,
    vivakh.

    Check here, great tutorials about different DE:

    http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/index.php

    If you install kdebase or kubuntu-desktop, you will be able to choose between Gnome and KDE from the login screen. All apps will be available under both DE.

    You will have GNOME and KDE applications on your computer. It is a big mess.

    Really? It doesn't seem like it's that messy having Xfce and KDE apps all on the computer at once. It could just be that I prefer some of KDE's applications over others (Okular > Xpdf, Kate > whatever).

    Mess as in terms of menu clutter? Or will the systems performance deteriorate?
