Lock Screen not working (screen saver getting activated) !

Hi,

When I hit Alt+Ctrl+L my system is starting the ScreenSaver but not locking the screen. The keybinding is correctly set.
This is happening in only root account but in another user account it works perfect !

And also some times after closing the laptop lid in root account, after some time the Xorg is getting struck! And is not responding ( not even mouse is moving and the screen doesnt get refreshed and shows the screen of the time when it is struck - like the time will be still 2pm even at 3pm, I might 've closed the lid around 1:55pm ).
But i observed that the process are going fine in the background!

Just curious- any command to restart xorg from another tty (like tty4/3)
If I kill xorg. It brings me to login screen but after login... all the windows that were opened will be closed!
