Can't boot with mouse in USB port... (pic)

The mouse antenna sticks out WAY too far. The multi-drive enclosure (with the multi-port adapter in top bay) sticks out about 3.5" from the front panel already.

So if I put the mouse antenna in the lower 4x USB port, it won't boot. I DO get GRUB, but it hangs right after I select Hardy.

Help? How do I get Ubuntu to NOT read the 4x USB ports as drives? (when booted, they all show up like CD/DVD drives that have no media in them)
