    Question Source Code Tree Standards

What are the standards for source code structure? Not the code file, the directory tree. For example, I know that the NEWS file and README file are required, along with others. I believe I read somewhere about other standards, such as a folder to store files that do not require compiling, such as shell scripts. What are those standards? I have searched the web, but have not found out what the standards are. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

    Re: Source Code Tree Standards

There's a standard for the source code tree in a package? That's news to me. Like, who bothers to look at the tree inside of a package? Well, I guess it does have a point for one reason or another.

The GNU standards can be found here. It doesn't really specify an exact tree structure, but it does shed more light onto the specifications that a package should have.

I already looked at that. I do recall hearing about some kind of standard for such things, but it doesn't seem to be common knowledge. Oh well.
