the fan is not related to nvidia, there is only one fan for the whole system in this laptop.. so the only chance is to control it via ACPI.

@qmater: im not using kernel 3.x as i said, it did crash on bootup.

i managed to compile kernel 3.0 rc7 , installed it.. and unfortunatelly i could reproduce again "the lagging/freezing" bug...
so, i may be hardware related...
so, as a poll.. how many of you have this issue?? i will appriciate every answer.

I have some absolute freeze when i use banshee.
loop chunk of music, keyboard down, graphics frozen, power button disabled...

3 or 4 times a day i have to long press the power button to reboot !!! my laptop is "on" 12 hours/day

I only noticed that when i learn music via banshee... i should try with another media player such as VLC.

    uname -a

what are you doing when the freezing occurs? listening to local mp3s or anything else? like webradio etc?

update: if you still have the jittery jumpy touchpad install this
    http://pkgs.org/download/debian-whee...amd64.deb.html

as in regards to the hanging... i belive it`s just sandy bridge... so.. maybe somebody will try the new stable kernel 3.0 that was just released today. (see if you can get bumblebee working )

I may have found at least part of the issue i was having (lagging and freezing that is )
skype seems to be the culprit, and it seems a lot of people are having this issue..
    https://jira.skype.com/browse/SCL-731

    do you?

_byron_ try Clementine, it is quite good music player imho.

qmater001: my freezes are very rare after update to 2.6.38-10 and latest bumblebee. I don't have skype to boot automatically on startup tho
