Oracle (Sun) Java JRE 6u26

Oracle has issued a new version of Oracle (Sun) Java JRE: 6u26. This contains security fixes: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/ja...es-401875.html

Because it's a security update, I expect that it'll be updated in the Ubuntu repo's as well. I advise to wait for that.

For experienced Linux users who (for whatever reason) do not wish to wait for the regular updates: I've updated my how-to for manual installation of Java: http://sites.google.com/site/easylinuxtipsproject/java

The waiting for the regular update is taking far too long. I've reported it as a bug on Launchpad: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...a6/+bug/807930

Update: I've contacted the guy who's mentioned in Launchpad as responsible for this package, but he's not the real key figure, it seems. This is what he told me:

Hey,

I am afraid I cannot answer your question directly; as far as I can
tell, Debian already has 6.26 (which I believe is the same as 6u26), so
it hopefully should be just a matter of asking for a sync.

So, what we're anxiously waiting for here, is a sync to happen. Now, who's responsible for that? I'll try to find it out.
