    64Bit Intel, which version

I currently have 32bit Ubuntu 11 installed on one of my PCs. The PC I just noticed is a Intel Celeron 420 64Bit.

Though this system is working fine, I noticed while installing some software today from APT when I tried to run it I got a lib problem on 32bit libs.

But I also noticed the only 64Bit version of Ubuntu available says AMD64. So should I stay with the i386 version of UBU installed here or switch to UBU AMD64 even though it's an intel?

AMD64 is just the name of it, like i386 is intel's name.

It'll run fine on any 64-bit CPU.

So I'm fine leaving the current i386 installed then?

If it's working fine, you can just leave it.

Ubuntu will use a PAE kernel if you've got more then 4GB of memory, so if you don't really have a specific need to upgrade to 64-bit, you don't have it.

Personally I would try to stick to 32bit linux as there are still a lot of apps that have not gone 64bit
