HOWTO: VinDSL Conky Script

Finally got around to installing Conky on my netbook...

ASUS Eee PC 1000HD / Peppermint Two OS (Lubuntu Fork) / Conky 1.8.0 / ConkyWX 0.7.9-1

Needs a lot of tweaking, but... Heh, it's a start.

Nice! How come swap never shows anything being used? Do we even need a swapfile?

Problem No.1)
jackal@Treadstone:~$ Conky: llua_load: cannot open /home/jackal/.conky/bargraph_testing.lua: No such file or directory!

sorry to ask but do you have the bargraph script placed in your .conky folder ?

if yes it looks like your .conkyrc is calling the wrong bargraph script,
it should be calling:

lua_load ~/.conky/bargraph_small.lua
lua_draw_hook_post main_bars

and not bargraph_testing:lua

comment out the bargraph_testing.lua

and uncomment:
lua_load ~/.conky/bargraph_small.lua

that should get rid of the "calling a nil value" problem.

sh: 1: /usr/share/conkywx/conkywx.sh: not found!
Have you actually installed conkywx ?

template4 "/home/vindsl/.config/conkywx/wx-wu-vindsl-imperial-weather-graphic-template.sh"
template5 "/home/vindsl/.config/conkywx/wx-wu-vindsl-metric-weather-dingbat-template.sh"
template6 "/home/vindsl/.config/conkywx/wx-wu-vindsl-metric-weather-graphic-template.sh"

you are using "vindsl" as your username when your actual username is not vindsl !!! you must use: /home/jackal/ blah blah
It is most important to get the path name correct in order to call the scripts and templates.

tackle these 3 problems first and then we can take a look at the nVidia smi problem and your autostart problem

Hi,
I see some of you are using conky with gnome shell. How do you set your conky own_window_type? I set it as 'desktop' and the conky window jumps from right to left end (for a split second) whenever I access overview. If I use 'normal', conky window hides when accessing desktop with 'win+D'.

This is my configuration currently.

own_window yes
own_window_type desktop
own_window_transparent yes
own_window_hints undecorated,below,sticky,skip_taskbar,skip_pager

own_window_argb_visual yes
own_window_argb_value 255

Any ideas? (I am using ubuntu gnome 12.10)

Just my 2 cents here but, I could not get the two to work and just commented out XML_ID and went with location and my setup worked fine.

You do not have any personal weather station near you - none mentioned at the bottom of the page for Cochin. So just use the Location - it is from the airport and should be fine.

Hey Sean, thanks for the help. But with your settings the conky window disappears when 'show desktop' (win+D) is used. Do you get similar behavior?
