    While you are writing your message you can click on preview to see what will show up - I also use google drive but you have access issues - I have not used it to post - and you need to check the format as well.

    Spot on re life in the universe - like I said there is so much to explore

    Re: HOWTO: VinDSL Conky Script

    Thanks Vin! Since I obviously plagiarized all the hard work you and Paramvir have done (and all the others on this thread as well), I'll take that as high praise.

    The vertical graph was inspired by wlourf (http://wlourf.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d2jj1rz) or (http://u-scripts.blogspot.com/2010/0...ph-widget.html) who has a lot of interesting ideas.

    Eight cores would work. I played with superimposing the vertical script over the graph (low alpha on graph) and you could "flip" the second four cores to run bottom up and superimpose there as well -- all eight cores in the same amount of space!.

    For example:

    [IMG][/IMG]

    On core 1, moved the text portion up and lowered the mid-color alpha in the bargraph lua.

    [QUOTE=foodoo;12443581]Hi Jackal,

    what you're are calling for a template in your .conkyrc file and what you have defined are different!
    your template is defined with a .sh extension
    but the template is: "wx-wu-vindsl-template" without the .sh

    simple action for you would be to delete the definitions (all) of them and simply use the calling path below but make sure you have put vindsl's template text into your: "wx-wu-vindsl-template" file and save it then restart conky.

    Hi, thanks a lot. I followed your instructions and corrected my bargraph issue. It's working fine now. But my weather is still not displayed correctly. Refer screenshot and suggest where i went wrong

    Re: HOWTO: VinDSL Conky Script

    Hello Jackal long time no hear from you!

    Ok here we go, those "seds" showing up where the weather is supposed to be displayed is from an early .conkyrc ! (from early development stages)

    I take it you have installed the latest conkywx which now has the seds built into the conkywx.conf which means they are no longer needed in your .conkyrc

    here is my call-up in my .conkyrc:

    ${execpi 900 conkywx -c /etc/conkywx/conkywx.conf -t /usr/share/conkywx/examples/wx-wu-vindsl-template}${font}

    I suggest you use my call-up exactly as you see it above!

    2 simple things:

    1: Make sure your conkywx.conf is placed here:
    /etc/conkywx/conkywx.conf

    2: Make sure your template is placed here:
    /usr/share/conkywx/examples/wx-wu-vindsl-template

    you know you can name the template to what you want and as yo can see my template name is: "wx-wu-vindsl-template"
    just make sure the name of your template matches the name in your call-up
    otherwise it will not be called and displayed.

    if you use my call-up example, you MUST delete any definitions you have above the TEXT line in your .conkyrc file

    i am at my computer quite a lot at the moment so please let me help you if i can, let me know how you get on.

    cheers Sean

    here is my complete .conkyrc so you can understand what i mean by having no definitions above the TEXT line and just using a simple call-up for the weather:

    ================================================== ==
    First of all thanks for taking the time.I have gone through files and have verified that the file paths are correct.Also, the call up is same as you said.Still i overwrote it with no change. Iam attaching my config of all 3 files.Maybe, you can find what is the issue.
    And my most important problem. Most of the times when i go back to my desktop, conky is not visible. I have to reset it to see again.But i know that even if not visible it is running in background.How to make it stick to my desktop?

    Hello Jackal,

    1.)
    Bellow are the definitions above the TEXT line that you have not deleted or commented out by using one of these: # for each line in your .conkyrc:

    template0 "/usr/share/conkywx/conkywx.sh"

    you can use the 'seds' in your .conkyrc if you want to but your are missing one of these: "|" directly after the conkywx call-up and before the beginning of the "seds"

    below is what it should look like and i have marked the "|" in red to show your where it should be placed:

    also there should only be one of these: "${font}" at the very end of the "seds" and not between the call-up and the "seds".

    lastly i think i know what your desktop problem is, you say you have to reset conky to see it!

    am i right in thinking that you have placed your .conkyrc in somewhere like /etc/conky ??

    well if you have done that please move the .conkyrc into your home folder and call it up from there! then you won't have any more reset problems.

    Once you have moved your .conkyrc into your home folder, you will need to change how you call conky in your terminal!
    here is the command that you should use:

    conky -d -c /home/jackal/.conkyrc

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

    soooooooooooooooooooo your exact call-up with the "seds", with the missing "|" and the deleted "${font}" will now look like this:

    Code:
    ##################################
    ##       CONKYWX WEATHER        ##
    ##################################
    ${voffset 4}${font RadioSpace:bold:size=8.25}${color4}WEATHER${offset 8}${color4}${voffset -2}${hr 2}${font}
    ${execpi 900 conkywx -c /etc/conkywx/conkywx.conf -t /usr/share/conkywx/examples/wx-wu-vindsl-template |

    ## Moon Phases [MP]
    sed -e 's/New Moon'/'\$\{offset -10\}New Moon/g'|
    sed -e 's/Waxing Crescent'/'\$\{offset -3\}Waxing/g'|
    sed -e 's/First Quarter'/'\$\{offset -3\}First Qtr/g'|
    sed -e 's/Waxing Gibbous'/'\$\{offset -3\}Waxing/g'|

    sed -e 's/Waning Gibbous'/'\$\{offset -3\}Waning/g'|
    sed -e 's/Last Quarter'/'\$\{offset -3\}Last Qtr/g'|
    sed -e 's/Waning Crescent'/'\$\{offset -3\}Waning/g'
    }${font}
    please replace your call-up with this!!! and try again
    this time you should expect to see some weather being displayed

    cheers Sean

    P.S. I have tested the weather call-up and it works just fine using the above!
