maybe they're still digesting all the new features and trying to decide which of
    the many options they want/need.....

on another note....anybody have any suggestions for new features in conkywx v 7.0 ???
    early development is already underway...

screenie is my latest v 6.0 with a little VinDSL, a little Paramvir, and a little myself.....

I'm getting this error message in Debian:

    Code:

    Curious...can you run:
    Code:
     /usr/share/conkywx/run-conkywx.sh
With realization of one's own potential and self-confidence in one's ability, one can build a better world.

This is happening only on Debian. I have tried installing Debian on VirtualBox - while it installs fine - Debian 8.8 - but it is a 3 year old thing - no longer valid with current gcc requirements. I used backports - came up to Kernel 4.9 - but now what about conky 1.10.6 ???

    OK enough of rants lol

What is happening is that I am using standard prescribed method in perl of including local path to my perl modules. use lib "./lib" in conkywx.pl - and this works in all cases that have been tested on Ubuntu, Arch Linux and Fedora [and derivatives]

I will need to have Debian up and running - so what is your configuration and do you have conky 1.10.6 installed or are you using 1.9 thing.

By the way - 'WX or wx' in our context is an acronym for weather and has no connection in any way with anything else 'wx' - sooooo libwx-perl is unrelated to conkywx.

    cheers

OK finally got things working - and I am pleased to confirm - things do work well on Debian. Though they want to ensure you have the will to suffer before giving you the "Stretch" huahahahahaha

In the config file - comment out gdacs and news things - there were some errors. The code in 6 is better than 5 and the next is even better - learning as we go along

    Re: HOWTO: VinDSL Conky Script

Ok, I have finally buntu'd so many times and changed a bunch of stuff while trying to solve other problems, that I eventually flew up my own ass and broke conkywx. My primary confusion is with the parameters within the vindsl-conkywx.conf file. I can get forecast data ok (I think), but my current conditions data is all over the place. Looking just now, around 10am with a monster cold front going thru, my conkywx shows 18 degrees C (which it is) and 6.4kph winds out of the NNW (which it is not... it's currently blowing around 25kph with gusts to about 50kph). Conkywx is also showing a 'sunny' image when reality is overcast/cloudy with rain. In short, forecast data appears good, but current conditions are all over the place.

I am now thoroughly confused as to which settings/locations to use. I've included the relevant section of the vindsl-conkywx.conf file and perhaps someone can cast an eye over it and see where I'm going wrong. I've highlighted the location/service selections that produce the image. Oh yeah, I'm still on conkywx-5 and point of reference would be Rockingham, West Australia.

Cool Re: HOWTO: VinDSL Conky Script

I eventually flew up my own ass
    That is very interesting

it's currently blowing around 25kph with gusts to about 50kph)
You do not state your reference source. Since you are using a PWS => IWESTERN334 - the wind information is coming from there.

The matrix to use for getting weather for default_wx is
    Code:
    w:1, w:2, w:3
    m:1, m:2, m:3
    1, 1:2, 1:3
    2, 2:1, 2:3
    3, 3:1, 3:2
AND if you are willing to spare some of your time - you may get some more options for getting weather forecasts with the current development version of conkywx

    ## How to handle the time zone values
Hey PJs Ronin, hope everything else is going fine.

You might try using Wunderground for your current conditions. That is what I used with version 5 and later versions as well.

    default_wx=w:1

When you look up your location there, click on "Change Station" and a map will show where you can see and change the XML_ID as needed to get a good PWS.

In version 6 you can have 2 XML_IDs the 2nd one it uses if the 1st one is putting out old data.

But, give that a try and see if it's more accurate.

If the wizard Param's got a better idea I'm sure he'll provide a solution.

    Re: HOWTO: VinDSL Conky Script

Problem fixed. I've been chasing an upgrade path for 'buntu because of recent decisions to drop Unity and I'm not real happy with native Gnome. That led me to biting off more than I can chew with partitions on my system each exploring some upgrade options. During all of this my conkywx suffered and started showing strange results. This all came to a head last Friday when the Oz Bureau of Met (BOM) started issuing warnings for a monster cold front with wind gusts to 125kph. That got my attention! Anyway, thanks CavsFan and Paramvir for identifying that the main issue was with my default_wx= being incorrect. All fixed now.

@Paramvir Happy to help out with the development version

@CavsFan I've seen your posts regaring Arch Linux. Might give it a shot.
