Plagiarize all you want. That's the whole idea.

The reason 42dorian started this thread was because, I have a different way of coding. Ppl wanted to change it, but were having a hard time figuring out how I do things, blah, blah, blah. So, he started this thread to help them figure out HOWTO tweak it.

Cool Re: HOWTO: VinDSL Conky Script

Thanks guys - @Cavsfan @Vindsl for the B day wishes lol - Five O is a landmark of sorts ...

And thanks to all and Tommy for all your appreciation - feels great.

On another note - wunderground figures your units based on your IP address - and in today's day n age - that is not good enough as quite often people in the metric world have started getting Imperial units. A forced update fixes it - my wild guess is that some how it figures the correct location but is getting to be more erratic.

    Shall figure a way hmmmmmm...

Seems that I have started something with my mention of fast approaching six oh

I am running conky all metric and can confirm that occasionally I am getting imperial temps displayed. As soon as I get an update, the imperial temps are changing back to metric - scratch your head !!??

Good to know! I figured you thought that that way. Kewl! That is what is so cool about open source, Ubuntu and this forum.

    Re: HOWTO: VinDSL Conky Script

    Hi everybody.
My conkyforecast died afew days ago so I decided it was the right time to give conkywx a try.

    I) At first, I followed the very well done foodoo instructions (#404 http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...9#post12266079)

It seems to work fine but I don't know why, sometimes it shows imperial units instead of the metric ones (mixed together):

plus, the double windspeed (km/h + mph)is very annoying. Does anybody know how to fix it?

II) Then i tried to set up what it shouldbe the newer version, but it doesn't display anything.

    conkyrc

    Code:
    ####
    ## Define the locations of Conkywx files (required)
    ## Set the path to your .confs and templates here.
    #
    template0 "/usr/share/conkywx/conkywx.sh"

    Re: HOWTO: VinDSL Conky Script

    for conkywx....

do you have imagemagick & gnuplot installed ??

in the conkywx.conf you have the font-to-image, Dynamic Moon,
    and graph functions enabled....

Dynamic Moon & font-to-image functions both need imagemagick
    to work....

the graph function needs gnuplot installed....

try commenting these out, then see if it works...or just install both
apps & you should be good to go...

the problem of Metric/Imperial displays has been noted & Paramvir
    is looking into it...

That is a good looking conky Tommy!

Same here I have never seen metric on my weather either. Hope this helps Paramvir.
Hey I'll be elgible to move into one of those 55+ trailer parks in January. Not that I'm going to, but I could.
I will take the discounts at restaurants and movie theaters though.
thanks @CavsFan.....but I can't take any credit for them....I am just an Acolyte worshipping at the
feet of the masters VinDSL & Paramvir

and even the background photo of Lake Tahoe is not mine

one of the great things about being a Sr Citizen is all those discounts ....nice to be able to go
somewhere & declare "I'm a Sr Citizen & want my discounts"

in 3 weeks I will qualify for a free lifetime fishing license

I know what you mean. I was looking for an emoticon that implied "I am not worthy". I guess neither of us are.

It's a good thing these guys are so generous with their work.

I look forward to all of the discounts that I will be able to get! And I won't be too shy to ask for them either.

A free lifetime fishing license is absolutely awesome. I live near the ocean and intracoastal waterways. There is also a canal within 100 feet I could be fishing in. A guy and his 11 year old kid were catching a bunch of tarpon in that canal one time.
They were of decent size but he said they had to let them go because there is a stiff price to pay to be able to mount them like for your wall. There is a bunch of places within walking distance that I could be fishing. But I have this neurological disorder that prevents me from doing a lot of stuff I would like to be doing like fishing.

    Good luck fishing.
