when i press shutdown button on Ubuntu it does nothing. Even if i wait 5 minutes...
How could i fix this? I have to use SWITCH USERS at the moment... then shutdown from there

Sorry about the typing im on a live cd which recognises the wrong keyboard.

Strange. You mean the "Shut Down..." option from the "power button" menu?
I know I shouldn't use tildes for decoration, but they always make me feel at home~

Yes. I use 11.04 with Ubuntu Classic: if i click on the power button menu, "log out" and "shut down" don't do anything at all... it just sits there. It did the same when i had 10.10, resolved itself on upgrade, then stoppped working again...

I have the same problem time to time with restarting the computer. I find that I have to click it 2 or 3 times to make something happen.

You could always just make a launcher on your desktop for shutdown and give it a good icon.

    make the command

    Code:
    shutdown -P 0
