    merveilleux, amigo!!

    @wildemann39, I followed your instructions in post #47 (tinkering just a little, because I don't know where "Desktop" is), and in mere seconds, the icons flashed, and I was connected to the net via wifi. I'm sending this message from my firefox browser in Ubuntu on my new wifi connection.

    for what it's worth, and there's not much to see here, here is the log of my installation:
    cat $0

    B43LOC=.

    #Hi, Down load this zip file to your jump drive then drag and drop the file to your desktop. Right-click it and select Extract Here. Open a terminal and do:
    #Code:
    sudo mkdir /lib/firmware/b43
    #sudo cp Desktop/b43/* /lib/firmware/b43
    sudo cp ${B43LOC}/b43/* /lib/firmware/b43
    sudo rmmod -f b43
    sudo rmmod -f ssb
    sudo modprobe b43
    #make sure your wired connection is not connected even though it is not currently working. This should get your wireless working.
    #Thank you

    @bkratz...

    Thank you for your suggestion. I didn't use it because, candidly, the method proposed by wildmanne39 looked easier. I took what looked like the shortest route downhill, and it worked, which of course makes me feel very good. But you provided me with a fallback, which on closer examination looks like a good, easily applied choice.

    Best wishes.

    Hi.
    Had the same problem on my dv6000 but got it working, My problem now is that every time I restart the PC I need to do a sudo modprobe b43.
    Maybe the answer was missed so could you please restate how to make b43 to auto load on startup.
    I did try to place it in my system session startup as "modprobe b43" without the sudo as I thought it would be unnecessary to so sudo at the startup of the session but this did not work.

    thanx

    Is this what you tried to do? if not it should load it automagically for you

    Code:
    sudo su
    echo b43 >> /etc/modules
    exit

    Hi,

    I also have a dv6000 laptop, with 10.10 just installed. Wireless worked fine in 11.04 and in Windows, but not when I installed 10.10.

    and lsmod | grep b43 doesn't produce anything. The wireless toggle key doesn't do anything except turn bluetooth on and off. I've been trying to work this out for the past couple of hours and still haven't found a solution. Anyone? My wireless card is an Intel Centrino Wireless N1030. Loaaads of thanks in advance!
