Hi, I looked over the zip file and the ndiswrapper is finally gone.

Also it looks like to me the dmesg shows the bug I mentioned, I think what I posted earlier will work but I am going to wait for chili555, I think I forgot to put a command in that post I will add it now.

I don't think this is an issue:
    pci 0000:0d:00.0: PME# disabled
When I look at the bus number in my computer, with a perfectly operating Intel wireless device, I see:
    [ 0.334211] pci 0000:03:00.0: [8086:4227] type 0 class 0x000280
    [ 0.334270] pci 0000:03:00.0: reg 10: [mem 0xedf00000-0xedf00fff]
    [ 0.334623] pci 0000:03:00.0: PME# supported from D0 D3hot
    [ 0.334637] pci 0000:03:00.0: PME# disabled
[ 0.419640] pci 0000:03:00.0: Signaling PME through PCIe PME interrupt
    [ 12.501282] iwl3945 0000:03:00.0: PCI INT A -> GSI 17 (level, low) -> IRQ 17
    [ 12.501299] iwl3945 0000:03:00.0: setting latency timer to 64
    [ 12.555630] iwl3945 0000:03:00.0: Tunable channels: 11 802.11bg, 13 802.11a channels
    [ 12.555635] iwl3945 0000:03:00.0: Detected Intel Wireless WiFi Link 3945ABG
    [ 12.555790] iwl3945 0000:03:00.0: irq 47 for MSI/MSI-X
    [ 12.640927] iwl3945 0000:03:00.0: loaded firmware version 15.32.2.9
Most notably, I see a recognition of the pci.id, as I've hihlighted above. In contrast, we see, in your dmesg:
    [ 1.610662] pci 0000:0d:00.0: reg 10: [mem 0xc4500000-0xc4501fff 64bit]
    [ 1.611100] pci 0000:0d:00.0: PME# supported from D0 D3hot D3cold
    [ 1.611151] pci 0000:0d:00.0: PME# disabled
It looks to me like your system sees a PCI slot and gives up right there.

Are you sure the card is not defective?

I also see lots of these, which you might Google to see if we can fix:
    [ 1.762124] \_SB_.PCI0:_OSC invalid UUID
    [ 1.762125] _OSC request data:1 0 1f
    [ 1.762235] \_SB_.PCI0:_OSC invalid UUID
    [ 1.762236] _OSC request data:1 0 1f
    [ 1.762357] \_SB_.PCI0:_OSC invalid UUID
    [ 1.762359] _OSC request data:1 0 1f
    [ 1.762466] \_SB_.PCI0:_OSC invalid UUID
    [ 1.762467] _OSC request data:1 0 1f
I've never seen it before and don't know if it's significant.

Hi, it appears the UUID is a bug also having to do with the same issue.
There are also many other bug reports on this.

Hi, still here, but I don't have the dv6000 laptop with me right now. My sister bought that just this month, and the wireless works perfectly both in 11.04 Live CD and in Windows 7, so I don't think the card is defective. I just installed 10.10 today. I also tried installing it a week ago through wubi but the wifi was also not working then..

I remember, aside from trying ndiswrapper, I also tried installing linux-backports-modules-something through synaptics, as indicated in the IntelLinuxWireless website, but it didn't work so I removed it again. Do you think that might have done something? Would freshly installing 10.10 help?

Hi, I do not think so and reinstalling will still have the same problem, but I going to let chili555 handle this, and see what he says.

the wireless works perfectly both in 11.04 Live CD...
    Then why not install 11.04?

I'd be fascinated to see the zip file above run against 11.04.

I did, actually, but when I did some updates, it stopped recognizing the display (it said Monitor Unknown in the monitor settings) and can only display at really low resolutions. Also had problems with recording with a USB mic, which we needed to record songs. Couldn't find a solution for those so I thought resolving the wireless issue would be easier, as I thought from other posts on this thread. =/

This is very interesting; from lsmod:
    i915 335073 3
    fglrx 2525261 0
These are two competing video drivers. Do you have a dock or external monitor? Can you try booting without it and run the tests above again?

I think this wacky stuff is display related:
    [ 1.762124] \_SB_.PCI0:_OSC invalid UUID
    [ 1.762125] _OSC request data:1 0 1f
    [ 1.762235] \_SB_.PCI0:_OSC invalid UUID
    [ 1.762236] _OSC request data:1 0 1f
    [ 1.762357] \_SB_.PCI0:_OSC invalid UUID
    [ 1.762359] _OSC request data:1 0 1f
    [ 1.762466] \_SB_.PCI0:_OSC invalid UUID
    [ 1.762467] _OSC request data:1 0 1f

Re: Wifi not working on my HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop.

Sorry, I was out of town for two days..

I don't have an external monitor, but I installed the fglrx driver because that showed up in the additional drivers.. should I remove it? Since I also had problems with the graphics drivers in 11.04, maybe that really is the problem with ubuntu and this computer.

Or should I just install 11.04 and not update or try to solve the monitor resolution issue instead?
