can anyone tell how to go into recovery mode while rebooting and then go into root command line

Reboot, then when the grub menu appears, use your arrow keys to move down to the recovery option.

If you miss this you can enter it from the GDM menu at login.

From the 10.10 menu click on your name, but do not enter your password. On the bottom of your screen, click on the menu that gives you your desktop options, recovery console should be one of them.

Why do you need to recover, if I may ask?

Why do you need to recover, if I may ask?

You're assuming he/she is dual booting. If (s)he's not, ye shall have to hold the shift button down during reboot to get to grub.

Just a word of advice, don't try what linuxinstalledfromhdd, suggested in the thread I closed, you could possibly get into a great deal of trouble. Do as I suggested and ask your brother to create an account for you on the computer.
