how to show the launcher in gnome 3 and change its behaviour

Hello, how can I show the gnome 3 launcher on the left of the screen and maybe hide it (I dont really need the hide option though), the same way the unity launcher does.

The only way I can see it now is by clicking the super button to put the laptop in the activities mode view (shown in the picture) so I can see it. I need to change its behavior. any alternative behavior?

Not exactly, but there is a dock extension that places a mirror of the favorites launcher on the right side that doesn't hide. I haven't looked at it but it might be possible to edit the files to place it on the left side. Next to my signature is a link to a collection of files & extensions bundled together & called gNatty Pack that contains that and about 8-10 other handy extensions as well as some themes. Also some pretty active support for Ubuntu users using Gnome 3.0.

You can run xfce4-panel as a dock & place it wherever you want, autohide, the whole nine yards. Any other generic dock/launcher will work as well.

Edit >> Profile preferences >> Colors tab .. select green on black, or the color combo of your choice, then selecting the Background tab for level of transparency.
