off little annoying problem in LIbreOffice using formulas

Normally, in LibreOffice, formula's entered work just as expected, they are there. But once in a while, the formula's disappear. This SUX because I do my math homework and assignments this way and when they just disappear it annoys the heck out of me because I have to write them over.

please don't suggest that I just write it on paper. =)

it turns out that they don't just disappear, they become squished. As you may notice, I have zoomed in within the screenshot so that I could investigate the little box and what may be contained within them and low and behold, they are hiding from me =)

oh, I have recently discovered that once I double-click the formulas in the boxes (after they become squished), they disappear, as in the boxes become white and I cannot see anything within them.

This just happened to me! I've been really enjoying doing my calculus 2 homework in writer, but, man, I'm just about furious.

Does this happen to anyone else? Is there a way to inform the LibreOffice team about it?
