    Question Sunbird vs. Lightning

I love Sunbird Calendar. I have it opening at startup, docked by Kdocker, so it stays open and docked in my System Tray at all times. This is so that I can receive the pop-up reminders about appointments that I've put in the calendar. Ubuntu 11.04 will not allow for Sunbird to be installed AT ALL. I'm trying to find out about Lightening...if using Lightning, and you want to receive the pop-up reminders from the calendar about appointments, etc., do you have to leave Thunderbird open all the time for that to happen?

actualy I prefer to use either Kmail or Evolution mail for calender.

Lighting vs Sunbird. I think lighting wins because I like Thunderbird more than spice bird

Thanks for the reply. My question is actually whether if using Lightning I have to keep Thunderbird open at all times in order to receive the pop-up calendar reminders.

Yes, I think you do, though there may be ways to run some sort of daemon in the background to avoid that.

    Exclamation Re: Sunbird vs. Lightning

I found Korganizer. That docks in the System Tray, and has pop-up reminders for appointments. I guess this is an acceptable alternative to Sunbird since Ubuntu 11.04 won't even let you install Sunbird at all. It says it's in direct conflict with another installed package that can't be removed.

[EDIT] Never mind. Didn't see the thread marked as solved. [/EDIT]
