Download the RT5390 driver from ralinktech.com --> Software --> Linux

Download it to your desktop. Right-click it and select 'Extract Here.' Open the folder that is extracted and navigate to os > linux and open the file config.mk with a text editor. Make sure that the following are set:

HAS_ATE=y
HAS_WPA_SUPPLICANT=y
HAS_NATIVE_WPA_SUPPLICANT_SUPPORT=y
HAS_ANTENNA_DIVERSITY_SUPPORT=y

Please post back if you get stuck or don't understand any step.

i have this exact same problem someone plz let me know what the final solution is plus do i need to delete something ???? i also got drivers from http://www.ralinktech.com/support.php?s=2 i downloaded the second from the top in the list and have them in a folder sitting on my ubuntu desktop what now ??? i havent done anymore than this

Hi .. new user here .. been following the thread and cutting and pasting as discussed.
When I entered the commands to patch ... previos thread i got the following error codes.. can you suggest what <i can do or what I have done wrong ... thanks

That little cedilla there indicates in Linux-land that you are in your /home/dad directory. That's not where the rt5390 Makefile is. It's probably in a folder on your desktop. My instructions here said to drag and drop the patches to your 2010_1216_RT5390_LinuxSTA_V2.4.0.4_WiFiBTCombo_DPO folder. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...ht=5390&page=3

Please do that and then change directories in the terminal to the location of the patches and Makefile:

cd Desktop/2010_1216_RT5390_LinuxSTA_V2.4.0.4_WiFiBTCombo_DPO

Now proceed with patching, make, etc., etc.

Post back if you get stuck.

help I have the same problem I try everything here but it gives me error I dow load the newest version of the driver but it gives me this

These patches do not apply to compat-wireless. Also, as far as I know, compat-wireless doesn't provide your driver.

You need 2010_1216_RT5390_LinuxSTA_V2.4.0.4_WiFiBTCombo_DPO from Ralink's website.

I suggest you compile it without the patches and see how it works. It compiles successfully, but with many warnings on my 2.6.38-10 system and modprobes without complaint. I don't have the device, so I don't know if it actually works as expected. Please test it for us.

What, exactly didn't work? Were you able to compile the driver without errors? Were you able to modprobe the driver without errors? Did a wireless interface, ra0 or wlan0 get created? When you click the Network manager icon, do you see your network? Does it try to connect?

May we have some details to work with?
