    Natty Gnome 3.0 ISO

    Helpful thread for login problems

It was suggested that this custom iso should have it's own thread.

Do you have the means to do a 32 Bit Version too ..... or do you just run 64 bit ?

I have Gnome-Shell running now on 32bit and 64 bit but for some reason cannot make my own distribution disk = time consuming and frustrating lols .
( I will be trying again tomorrow though - once I know the 64 bit one will install ok )

Glad that you managed to make a good ISO ..... all the system files worked for me and will
spend some time tomorrow working with it .....

I like the customization on the screenshot also like the idea of adding panels to it too .....

Thanks for taking time out to do this .....

I just run 64-bit but if we have some success with this I might do a 32-bit version, but for that I might change to a virgin UGR installation, or the minimal install technique. Guess it depends on how much interest and/or problems people have with this one.

The screenshot is a little misleading since that is not what people are going to see when the desktop first pops up. However, just about everything they need to tweak it like that is in the ISO & what isn't is covered with links in the README.

You are welcome, thanks for helping iron out the bugs.

    Re: Natty Gnome 3.0 ISO

I just made a quick stop here to thanks cbowman57 for his efforts. I'm using resque cd just to boot up my machine, because my natty install with all the tweaking upon it crashed yesterday and there is no way to recover it.
I'm gonna switch to fedora 15 for a while just to calm down a bit and also enjoy gnome 3 on a stable (hopefully) kernel.
    All the best.

Good luck philnice, I just couldn't get used to Fedora or Suse myself but I hope you'll stop back & share whatever you learn from the Fedora/Gnome 3 experience with us.

    Re: Natty Gnome 3.0 ISO

I just got a better idea. Since i'm going to format my primary disk anyway, i'll put on fedora 15, and the second partition would be UGR since it's the only available for 32 bit machines like mine.
They'll release their first beta iso in a few days anyway, so....

Just an update to say the install procedure is going well as long as it will go onto a 8 Gig flash card .......
For the custom install it recommended at least 6.1 Gig ....

Ok flash cards are slow ...... but will update again when its finished .....

Yeah, I've tried some flash drive installs, they take forever.

Curious to see how it turns out with somebody else behind the keyboard.

You should be able to copy the themeselector folder from /usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions to ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions and that will work, though you'll still have to download & install the shell themes in the ~/.themes directory.
