Unable to Update

Hi!
I am unable to update Ubuntu. I am using Ubuntu 12.04 and have never been able to update it. Update manager says, 'Failed to download repository information Check your internet connection.'

I get the following in details:

I have tried sudo apt-get update but I get the same error.

My internet connection is fine and works perfectly.

Because of this I am unable to install any new applications from Software Center too. Any help will be appreciated.

The error message says

Unable to connect to 192.168.1.1:8080

So you probably have defined a proxy server, and that is not working.

I realized the proxy server issue just after I had posted this thread, that is why I marked it solved as soon as I had posted it. Anyway, thanks for your input.
