I have an HTPC running Ubuntu 10.10 connected via DVI to HDMI to an HDTV. I was able to successfully set up SPDIF passthrough on my Nvidia 9800 GT so both audio and video works fine via HDMI. Now, here is how my HTPC is setup: HTPC (via HDMI) >> Soundbar (Sony HT-CT350) >>HDTV. I removed pulseaudio because I cannot, for the life of me, make SPDIF passthrough work with it on XBMC. So I am using ALSA. Surround 5.1 works fine on my setup. Now here is my question, I would like to individually control/adjust the volume of my sound bar speakers per channel, meaning separate controls for rear left, rear right, front left, front right, center and sub. How can I do this? Can I do this via asoundrc? Suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
