karmic Hi everybody, once more, dear friends, once more I feel like a dunce... I've been trying to find a related threat here and did find suggestions to solve other problems I encountered with kdenlive, but not the big one for me. The manual offered on the actual kdenlive site is, let's say, incomplete, and I seem to tune in with other users missing a detailed and comprehensible manual. What other users don't seem to miss, and hence me feeling like a dope, is how to actually finalize a project, render it and have a nice video to be played by either Totem or VLC. When rendering I am given the option to have it destined to go as media player, but I suspect that I'm overlooking something, as the button 'render to file' remains pale and unusable [not to mention that the options given are 6 windows media player-options and 6 apple quicktime players, both which I don't possess], regardless which kind of reckless attempt I endeavour in. I started simple, by creating a slideshow synchronized with an audio-track, the replay looks pretty much like what I envisioned [save for the sound, which I hope will not translate in the final result], but that's where it for now ends for me. What do I not see? What's the next, final step? The aforementioned manual only advises as how to save it all to DVD, which I don't intend. Anyone? I'd be greatly obliged, thanx.
Not sure if I understand the problem correctly. But when I hit the "render" button a new window open. In the tab "Render Project" there is a drop down menu at the top. In there I can choose different options, one of which is "Media players". This only gives the option to render for Windows Media Player or Apple Quicktme Player. If, however, I choose "File rendering" in the drop down menu I'm given a big list of formats. I guess this is what you are looking for, Regarding the "Render to File" button being greyed out I assume is because the necessary codecs are not installed to render to these formats. Make sure to give the correct location and file name just underneath the drop down at the top. Hope that helps.
Jeez, as suspected the most obvious reason for feeling like a dunce applies: because I am one. Yes, thanks, Linux&Gsus, that'd be it, in process this moment. I opened this one, postponed the attempt and must have thought I tried it, instead relying too much on the word 'media player'. Thanks a lot , enjoy your day!
You are most welcome. I'm glad it worked out. Cheers, L&G
Uh, a p.s.: yes, it worked fine, and even the sound's good. However, there's another problem. I applied fading to the images, i.e. to each frame both 'fade from black' & 'fade to black', which also works, but in the middle of it it first starts to fade out and then briefly 'flame' up again a little, the result of which is a short visual pulsing. Any ideas what could cause and how to fix this?
I'm sure no expert in these things since I hardly edit any video. May only guess would be to double check that an effect is not occidentally applied twice on top of each other. And if nothing else works, delete the effect in question and apply it again. Settings for fade to/from black are quick to redo. Sorry, not much help in this case, I guess. Cheers, L&G
Oh, that's fine, you been of great help already. Just for everyone's reference: won't be the double-application, thought of this as well, but I became very conscious about it when double-clicking twice, yet every frame is affected. Will try again and see what happens. Take care
