Can somebody help me with my laptop?

I just installed ubuntu 10.10 using wubi. I started to install updates, when my laptop froze and I had to hold the power button in to turn it off. When I
turned it back on, I just had a black screen and that was it. Does anybody know how I can get everything running again without sending it to hp?

Boot up a live CD and then backup all your data for a start. Then boot up normally again. What do you see?

I can't boot anything. I get the black screen as soon as the computer turns on.

Set the CD/DVD drive to boot first in the BIOS and boot the LIve CD. That should do it.

I can't get into the bios or anything. The screen is black as soon as I hit the power button. So I can't even boot the cd or change bios settings.

What brand is the laptop?

Wait, this is a WUBI install. WUBI is a file on a Windows file system.

You should be able to reboot Windows by selecting the HDD in the BIOS boot sequence and doing a Safe Mode boot.

There are also special Repair Install CDs available for different versions of Windows that can be used to fix the Windows boot process.

To access the BIOS, boot up and keep on pressing Esc until you see the BIOS. If that won't do it try F1 or F2.

I tried that but the screen is still black. The screen doesn't come on at all.
