OK, got a weird one for you. Long ago I had installed 10.04 I think it was on my machine alongside Windows. At the time, I set up an account for myself and one for my wife. I then installed the KDE desktop, which screwed up all my fonts, so I uninstalled it using the string:
This put me back into an earlier flavour of Gnome. Well tonight, I was showing my wife all her options for Linux. She had never logged into her account, so I did. Oddly enough, she had the newer version of Gnome (with all those buttons on the left). Well, when I logged back into my account, my sound wouldn't work. Sound works great in her account, but can't get any sound out of mine. Nothing out of firefox, nothing out of Rhythmbox, nada. It APPEARS that all my settings are correct. Any ideas?
