I do not like the purple desktop

    Hi,
I use Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat. In order to minimize system resource consumption,I set special effects to None and removed the desktop background picture. When I did the latter,I realised that the only color available for the background was purple. However,I dislike this color. Can I change the background color? As already described,I do not want to put a picture on the background because I wish to minimize resource consumption.Or is purple the official color of Ubuntu?
    Also,please answer my other thread:ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1729207

go to change desktop background click on the solid purple for background, lower Right of the window you will see a button "Solid color" click that, if you wish to use a gradiant, then next to that set the colors you want to use with the color buttons or for a solid color only one color button will show ! sorry I cant help with your other issue !
