I am not sure how this happened, but attached is a screenshot showing my bookmarks which titles are display as gconfig xml.
ex:
version="1.0?>
<gconf>
name="window_size" mtime="1301197619" type="pair">

</entry>
etc...
just a few note on my hardware:
I am running 10.04 Ubuntu
in a virualbox VM
the host is a Macbook pro
