    Is not the same case, but my server is 64 bits and my HP only has drivers for 32 bits so I ended making a VM 32 bit server just for printing and I have it running in the server

    I'm using the 64-bit Canon driver, so it works. But I'm on 11.04 rather than 11.10.

    I am rolling back to 11.04 because my Canon ImageClass MF4150 does not work on 11.10.
    I tried Unity. I tried GNOME 3. I did not like neither of them. Now running Ubuntu 12.04 in Fallback mode.

    After reading the readme in the Linux_UFRII_PrinterDriver package, it looks my specific printer isn't supported. I've got an MF5550 from my old windows days (which worked great). Any idea how to begin to get it working?

    Don't know if this will help a lot of you ... and frankly I don't know if it's truly advisable but I was having the same kind of problems that you all are having with my Canon All-in-one ink jet ... I was about to move back to 11.04 ... as a last chance step I uninstalled CUPS from the software center then reinstalled it ... now everything is fine ... I'm afraid to shut it off for the night ... I don't know why it worked but it seems to have ...

    I'm running 11.10 64bit ...

    Re: Canon all-in-one laser printers

    Hi,

    What worked for me (Canon IR1023iF, but I guess the problems is with ubuntu 11.10 as a whole) was the following:
    * Create a sym link lib64 to lib (sudo ln -s /usr/lib /usr/lib64)
    * Install drivers from canon (o1113enx_l_ufr220.zip)
    * unzip it and alien'ed the 64bit RPMs
    - sudo alien cndrvcups-ufr2-uk-2.20-1.x86_64.rpm --scripts
    - sudo alien cndrvcups-common-2.20-1.x86_64.rpm --scripts
    * install the drivers
    - sudo dpkg -i cndrvcups-common_2.20-2_amd64.deb cndrvcups-ufr2-uk_2.20-2_amd64.deb
    * install the printer
    * (this may be specific to my case, since the printer I use requires a login to print) set the account
    - sudo cnjatool -e <printer-name>
    - cnjatool - <printer-name>

    I hope it helps.

    Abracos,
    Ades

    Re: Canon all-in-one laser printers

    Anybody managed to get this working on 12.04?
    I' ve had no luck - I can install my MF8030Cn printer, but I get this error when I try to print a test page:

    PDF file is damaged - attempting to reconstruct xref table...
    Tried everything posted on this thread.

    I haven't tried on 12.04, waiting for the release. That would suck big time if our printers will not work on LTS.
    I tried Unity. I tried GNOME 3. I did not like neither of them. Now running Ubuntu 12.04 in Fallback mode.

    Re: Canon all-in-one laser printers

    I'm another one stuck with a MF4150 printer that doesn't work... I've also tried a bunch of thing and now I got a driver that sees a printer but does absolutely nothing.

    So do I need to roll back to 11.04 to get things working right?

    Unfortunately it looks this way. I had to go back to 11.04 to be able to use my MF4150. The driver installs just fine but the printer doesn't work on 11.10. It is very lame on Ubuntu part. If you find the solution please post.
