    ATI Open Source drivers?

    (I'm using 11.04)

Although Ubuntu doesn't officially support the Radeon HD 6850, I heard that installing an alternative, open-source driver will give me the support.

How do I go about doing this?

Have you tried the ATI drivers?

Yes. I've previously downloaded the latest Catalyst, and it won't work with my Radeon HD 6850 + Natty Alpha 3.

Did you already try to install the proprietary driver via "Additional Drivers"?

I guess you are referring to the Open Source Edge Driver:
    https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa
    Code:
    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get upgrade
    Greetings.
