Hi.
My laptop model is Asus g53jw. Using 64 bit Ubuntu 10.10
The sound did work just fine yesterday and now it does not. The only changes I'm aware of is an update and installation of packages thru synaptic. The headphones jack still works but there's no sound from the speakers.
I tried the suggestions here and it didn't solve my issue:

Not sure if it's related to the problem, when I noticed sound was not working and started looking I found that my user was not in the audio group. My user was also not in the video group as well as a few other groups that I'm almost certain that my user was in before.
