Intel Corporation Mobile GME965/GLE960 Resolution problem

    Hi Guys,

I got a little problem with my HP Compaq 6720s running Ubuntu 10.04.
The maximum Screen Resolution is 1280x800, in Windows its much higher ( I think its 1440xsomething.. )
I searched for some Intel Drivers, but its all up2date. I'm pretty new to Ubuntu, so hopefully you can help me.
    lspci|grep VGA says:

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GME965/GLE960 Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 0c)

    Anyone got any Ideas ?

    Thanks so far

Are you sure the resolution was higher on Windows?

Hm.. Really looks like its the same resolution, but everything just looks so "big" in Ubuntu. It just looks better in Windows, more sharp. Any ideas what that might be? I mean, when its the same resolution, why doesnt it look the same?

    greetings

Big and small are very relative terms, and since you haven't posted a sceeenshot, I really have no idea what you are talking about. I've seen Windows XP on a 7" screen in its default interface glory and thought it terrible, but apparently, people at ASUS thought otherwise.
