I wonder if this guide is relevant for 11.10 64-bit? I tried this one yesterday https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Asus_U36JC, but after following the instructions for disabling nvidia my laptop started freezing on boot.

Its better to install bumblebee than disabling the nvidia card

    Re: Setup Guide: ASUS U36Jc - Ubuntu 11.04 Alpha3 64-bit

    Hello,
    Asus U36jc + Ubuntu 11.10.
My major issue so far is the (suspend / Hibernate) - whenever I select either one, the screen only locks.. , the computer keeps on running and the disk and fan are working. so i guess my question is - Is their a full sleep mode or suspend?
i looked around and found the fix here http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1705406
but that still not working for me.

Let me know if you faced similar issues and if the is a fix..

    THANK YOU.

    Re: Setup Guide: ASUS U36Jc - Ubuntu 11.04 Alpha3 64-bit

I had similar graphics problems .... my card was the Nvidia 540 with Intel Graphics.

    mine is a .... ASUS .... K53SV though ....

( Hybrid Graphics are not as easy to set up because they switch between the two inbuilt graphics cards to save power apparently )

I solved the problem that I had, with this newer system using the Ironhide driver .....

The solution is documented in this thread ..... it worked for me ...... and a few others too.

Found a working solution for suspend (12.04), posted it here; http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1979490

Try this for 11.10, should work there to I think?
