So I tried changing the last options over to nodev,nosuid 0 2. No help in recognizing the raid. Gparted does recognize it as ext4.

I kinda think you are right that the raid array isn't available as quickly as Linux wants to see it. Must be used to slow poke windows bootups versus Linux fast booting efficiency!!

Anyway, I can live with it the way it is. Not really a big deal to have to open and close gparted on reboot (I usually leave it on most of the time anyhow).
