    Question Ubuntu Lucid Lynx Codec Source

    Hay guys, I'm a newbie here.
    I want to ask about codec for ubuntu, where I can download an avi files codec for ubuntu 10.04 ? So I can install that without internet connection. Please help me.

    For just AVI support, you need the w32codecs package (w64codecs if you are using 64-bit Ubuntu).

    i would suggest getting the whole package called restricted-extras

    it will also give you flash and other video codecs.

    For AVI file soyu'd better get every possible codec you can get your hand on...

    (AVI is not a video format, it's a container file, and can contain audio & video encoded in pretty much any codec in existence...)
