wmv and mp3

I am new user of Ubuntu and linux . I have not internet facility for my home computer . But I can download software in another computer which is in my work place. I usually use win Xp in work place .
Now I start to work with Ubuntu 10.10 . I have wmv and mp3 format file . I want to play this files in ubuntu. How can play this files in ubuntu . What are the steps that I follow?. I Can use pen Drive to share my files. Thank you .

Go to System > Synaptic packagemamager and search for ubuntu restricted. Install this and most supporting files will be installed. To play all sort of media files i normally use Vlc.

Agreed. I have found Vlc to be a great media player.

But the OP states that (if I'm reading this correctly) his Ubuntu machine doesn't have an internet connection.So, I guess the question is how does he get software, without an internet connection?

before you go off trying to install anything without an internet connection. Spend some time and read the tutorial - it will help!
