    Question Rsync, scp, any command not working via SSH

    I have a completely up-to-date Ubuntu 10.10 x86_64 that suddenly would not accept any commands via SSH. I am completely stomped and not sure where or what to look for.

    What happens is that when trying rsync, scp or simply just ssh home whoami it yields no output at all.
    Now, just plain ssh home works fine and a session is opened as expected.

    If I add verbose parameters to the aforementioned commands the outputs are as follows:

    I have tried purging and reinstalling openssh-server and also downgrading to the previous versions of openssh-server and -client. Tried disabling and enabling ufw again and tried the last three kernels to no avail. sshd_config is untouched.

    Does anyone have any ideas? Last resort is reinstalling but that's a hassle. And who's to say it doesn't happen again if I don't figure out why.





    Edit: Jeebus f-ing captital C! I just thought of checking my .bashrc and lo and behold, there was some sillyness at the top there reading:

    Why it was there I don't know, but removing it solved it.

    Edit2: Apparently it should read "return" not "exit 0", as that's the way it is on my work computer. Maybe it'll help others, maybe not. Peace out.
