The first desktop you see when you log in where all your web apps show up. At the bottom of that screen and in the middle should be a couple of dots depending on how many app you have installed. Click those dots and there is an icon called Local Apps. After you click on that it has another folder that says More Apps. When you click on that nautilus opens and all the local apps are located in there.

You have to be using the installed version of jolicloud. You can't be using it through a browser to access local apps.

I know I have to use the installed version. I'll re-install Joli OS (The installed version) and see if it's there.

It requires ubuntu one to use apps? If so, I won't bother. I don't like the idea of ubuntu one.

I'm glad Ubuntu is trying something with Unity. Not because I like the Unity idea, but I've just tried Gnome Shell.
It's not bad and have a lot of potential.

But I'm really fond of Compiz (and more again back from gnome shell), I'm glad Ubuntu still support it !

Good and simple Gnome apps, a good dock, compiz and conky, and I'm happy.
And there is so much that have improved the past last years… I have the feeling we were on the right way (gtk themes and engines becoming better and better, same for icons, same for docks, same for compiz, same for nautilus with elementary, etc.), and we are taking a bend too quickly…

Well, as long as we have the choice !

Nothing against Ubu One, and The Cloud et al. but...

I find it more convenient to carry my data in my lunch box, on an ever growing assortment of USB thumb drives.

I'm never far away from my food source (LoL!) and every device in the world has a USB port these days.

'Tis not a year or two shows us a man:
    They are all but stomachs, and we their food;
They eat us hungerly, and when they are full,
They dispatch us with a belch.

Cloud computing is a sexy idea, but after the hunger for newness is over...

It's a sad commentary on life, but I trust my "guy purse" more than the web. Belch!

    I love Cloud computing.

UbuntuOne, Dropbox and Chrome/Chromium sync makes my life a lot easier!

What I don't like, though, is being forced. I like having a choice of providers.

For example, UbuntuOne is great in that you can select folders to sync regardless of where they are (they don't have to be under the UbuntuOne folder) but since I also use Fedora and Windows it isn't really available to everything (Windows only sync's with the UbuntuOne folder, not the others).

What is that small launcher/notification area running in the second image? I like it.
