Firefox suddenly not able to play YutTube videos

I've turned off adblock and flashblock, and still no YT video will play.

Flash video works on Vimeo, and Chromium with its own version of adblock works with YouTube.

    Erm ... I'm somewhat stumped!

Well, running Firefox via the terminal shows:

    Code:
Failed to open VDPAU backend libvdpau_nvidia.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

    (<unknown>:3939): Gdk-WARNING **: XID collision, trouble ahead
which is odd, because I've got an ATI card.

    Very same problem here.

I just stepped back the version of Flash I'm using and that did not fix it. I believe the issue is somehow related to the recent hardware acceleration feature added to Flash, but I could have swore things were ok after that last update.

For some unexplainable reason I am able to watch embedded videos but not videos directly on the YouTube webpage.

What happens when you run this:
    Code:
     sudo apt-get install libvdpau_nvidia
    if this doesn't, try libvdpau_nvidia*.

The thing is, I don't have an Nvidia card anyway. I'm lumbered with an ATI card.

Same problem (although I don't have Chromium). For a temporary solution, try turning on Private Browsing (in Tools) that worked for me.

    No dice.

The really odd thing about this, is that it's only YT that's affected. Vimeo videos play ok.
