    Old Kernel in New Kernel

    Dear All,

I have some (quite urgent) question here . Let say, my computer is running with the latest kernel 2.6.x and I would like to install some application which is tested successfully on Kernel Version 2.2.x and 2.4.x with RedHat, Suse and Debian distribution. In that case, would my application running as normal? or is there any configuration should be changed?

Hope to hear from you..Thank you in advance.

    Regards..

It should work fine, it would help of course if you explain what the program is.

    "It depends"

If you try it and fail, give us a little more information and we can give it a go. Google will probably help more than most in finding people with similar experiences.

Re: Old Kernel in New Kernel

Thank you cchhrriiss121212 and PriceChild for the fast respond,

Application that I would like to install is FW1-LOGGRABBER...in the website, its written

"FW1-LOGGRABBER is statically linked and can therefore be run on the following systems:
    * Linux (Tested distributions are Red Hat, SuSE and Debian with Kernel Versions 2.2.x and 2.4.x)"

So any idea on how to run this application?

It includes a fairly comprehensive set of instructions in the download.

Open it up and read fw1-loggrabber.html

Re: Old Kernel in New Kernel

    Dear Pricechild,

I have read the installation, but just worry about installation this application in latest kernel version. OK, then...I hope there won't be any compatibility issue.

    Thanks for the guidance..
