Usb Adsl modem connection problem

Hi
I am using Beetel 100 CX USB ADSL modem(with conexant chipset) . I am a newbie to Linux and i have Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat installed on my computer. My problem is , i am not able to connect to internet.
I tried the cxacru patch and all other methods, but nothing helped me. But my modem is on when i plug in the modem.
lsusb command lists it. So somebody from this forum provide me with clear, detailed to get connected to internet.
