Video tearing ati radeon hd 5750

Okay, so I realize this is a subject that has likely been brought up before, but I haven't come across a solution as of yet.

I am able to fix the video tearing via these instructions:

but as soon as I restart the machine, the video tearing is back. Is there a way to fix it completely?

or, failing that, could a script be written to automate this so it runs on startup each time?

I get the same issue using the same card.
I also get windows tearing during movement of them.
Switching from compiz to metacity helps but I thought video tearing was no longer an issue in linux.
Nvidia was fine I had no tearing with my old nvidia 9500GT.
Can somebody point us in the right direction please.
For me windows appears the better option even with all it's vulnerabilities!

Thought I would bump this thread, as it seems others are having difficulties.
Is this something I need to live with? The windows tear when I move them aswell as video playback. I have tried several guides I found on the internets but nothing has worked for me so far. Is this as good as it gets?

    Just an update:

Catalyst 11.1 fixes video tearing completely for me, see phoronix link below for anyone having the same issue.
