video editor with titles

Can anyone suggest a video editor or movie maker or other software that allows me to make and edit titles? I need this for a film/video class. I just need to make simple titles with text and simple animations. I was hoping for something similar to Windows Movie Maker which I used before switching to Ubuntu. Any help would be welcome.
Note: I have tried Open Movie Editor, OpenShot, and Pitivi. OpenShot came close but could not load blender.

Using Pitivi, figured out that I need to create the title pic in GIMP (same res as video) and then import it..
