    Power Usage for Meerkat ION

    Hi,
I am looking at purchasing a Meerkat ION Nettop as a skype and surf device for my LCD in the living room. I now am curious about power usage.

I would like to know what the nominal power usage would likely be for connecting to Skype for a video call.

I would also (and more importantly) want to know the power usage of the box when it is idle -- which will be most of the time. The only background processes would likely be skype, sftp and ssh.

    Thanks
    Paddy

We don't have the tools to determine exactly what the power usage of a system is, however I can say that it will never draw more than 200 Watts. Unfortunately, I can't be more specific than that.

200W?? I can't speak for the merkat, but I have an Asrock ION-atom based machine and I've never seen 40W using a kill-a-watt, the top I've seen is 35W, but it usually stays a 20-25 at most.

200W is a maximum limit, and it will most likely run much lower than that under most circumstances.
