    ubuntu 64

    i have a pc with 8gb ram and an i3 processor. does a 64 bit version of ubuntu exist for intel processors? if so, would it be recommended?

    Yes, download the x86_64 version. Most of the packages used/included are 32bit (so you won't really notice a speed increase), but the base is 64bit so you'll have full access to your 8GB of ram.

    If you have 4gb or more of RAM then the 64bit version will utilize your compy's memory more. Since you have 8, go for it! But the 32 bit version is fine if you don't really care. ^_^

    now, when i do that, i would prefer to download the torrent. where do i find the x86_64 variant? is it the same as ubuntu-10.10-desktop-amd64.iso.torrent?
