    Tools for VLSI/MEMS design

I've searched the forums and was surprised noone posted a thread about VLSI CAD before.

Does anyone know or can reccomend good VLSI design software?

I also seached the repository and found bo diddly, so any help will be welcome.

I would recommend MAGIC VLSI. I've used it for a while now and it comes with the tutorial. It is strictly for linux and tells you how to install it.
Its got great tools and such but of course the other programs cost some serious money.

    here: http://bach.ece.jhu.edu/~tim/programs/magic/

Feel free to hit me up with any questions.

It is a web-based wizard that helps HDL engineers in developing test-benches for test their VHDL & Verilog modules.

    Re: Tools for VLSI/MEMS design

    Hey
Am not very sure about MEMS, but for VLSI there are quite a few tools.

VLSI Design : Magic (as mentioned above, a cygwin distribution available in case you are using Windows)

VLSI CAD : Alliance (its too good.. has a lot of the optimization, building up the circuitry, cell design, etc parts)

VLSI Digital Simulations : IRSIM (decent simulator, can be used for all your simulations in digital. Use spice (ngspice) for the currents, and exact voltages if required).

Alliance should help you with all the tools required.

For converting your C code to VHDL you could use Spark, again has other feautures like common subexpression elimination, and other reduction techniques.

    That should do the job!
    Regards
