Hey guys. I've got Ubuntu 10.04 installed on my netbook and have recently started noticing the odd problems with how some GUI elements are rendered.
Here's a screenshot of some of the places the errors appear;
Those grey blocks are clickable and do things when clicked, so are clearly links of some kind. It happens regardless of the theme I chose in Appearance Preferences - the block just changes colour depending on the theme selected. If I go to Appearance->customize->colours and change the "selected items" background colour, the block on the appearance preferences window changes colour, but the one on the system monitor doesn't.
I also have a similar (related?) problem with the spell checker in xchat and pidgin. Instead of just underlining words that are spelt wrongly, a big red block appears over the word making it impossible to actually read the word;
Strangely, this doesn't happen in all spell checkers. Chromium and oo.org is fine.
Does anybody have any ideas? Thanks (:
