Exclamation Best Terminal Based Web Browser

After a little incident that left me with invisible windows and menus, I realized that if something serious had happened like that and I needed some help, I wouldn't have a way to get to these forums for advice. So I ask, if all I have access to is the CLI, what is the best Terminal based web browser?

    elinks - for text
links2 - for text + images, make sure you have gpm installed. Can only be ran (with graphics) in a tty. If you don't want graphics, elinks is better.

Thanks, I'll give both a try. I'm assuming that if X is down or some other crazy thing happens to the GUI, then I'll be using it in a tty.

    My first try at elinks!
GUI Edit: ^Not bad! Navigation takes some getting used to, but it's pretty functional.

If you need to search the web, use https://ssl.scroogle.org. It works much better than Google does in text mode.

In elinks press . (full stop/period)

Each link will then have a number next to it. Just type the number to go to the link.

    To search google press G

This brings up an address box

type g then your search term

    eg
    Code:
    g ubuntu
    To search wikipedia type

    Code:
    wiki ubuntu
There are other inbuilt searches, looks at the documentation. You can configure your own, should you wish to use scroogle.

I'd probably use a live CD and do it graphically.

Asking what's the best terminal based web browser is kind of like asking what's the best type of headache you can get.
