What if Linux had a 90% market share

It can be done .Open source has power to do that .The only problem I see that people don't have awareness about Linux and open source world .I wish some advertisement is made .

Open source and gnu/linux is doing so good even with little market share .

what could be the scenario of computing if Linux had 90% market share ...??

The scenario would be very much like now except nobody would need to pay Microsoft to use a standard platform.

It won't. You can't have DRM on Linux.

The majority of software is obtained through a repository, yes? That's what people would use because they'd be afraid of getting viruses from an outside source.

Now, try writing an open source GPL'd program that uses DRM, or even a proprietary program that uses DRM, and try getting it included in an official repository in a mainstream distro.

    lol history begs to differ.

Open source and gnu/linux is doing so good even with little market share .
Because the only cost associated with it is time, unless of course you count offerings by Novell or IBM or RedHat.

Year of the Linux desktop (finally)?
