For a long time my wired internet connection has been spontaneously disappearing. It's working persistantly fine under Windows.

I don't know what's wrong with it, quite frankly, but the connection stops showing up AT ALL in ifconfig -a.

I've been around the internet a bit to try and find a solution but none match.

I wouldn't mind this very much since I do have wireless, but a program I use called Maple uses the wired connection's MAC address to identify the computer. When eth0 disappears, so does the MAC address, and the program complains about a missing license file.

Please help!
