Thread: can't boot into ubuntu

    can't boot into ubuntu

    my battery was running out, and my computer was trying to hibernate, but i think it powered off before it was done with the process. now i can't boot into my ubuntu partition. i attached a picture of the boot (the first two lines normally come up during boot)

    no, it was working fine until it went into hibernate

    I think your boot partition is not getting mounted.

    Might be worth fsck'ing your partition from recovery mode or if that dosn't work then fsck from the livecd.

    FSCK - File System Check.Boot your system using live cd and then open terminal and type
    Code:
    fsck.<filesystem> /dev/<device>

    Note:
    Before running fsck unmount your partition first.

    what should i put into <filesystem>?
    i had already looked up previous threads and i put this into the terminal


    sudo e2fsck -fvy /dev/sda4

    it fixed the problem, but when i restart later it gives me the same error screen

    Can you post the output of df -hT command.

    wow, right now it wont even let me load a live cd anymore. i get an error:

    "cant open dev/sda no medium found"

    and i've tried multiple live cds...
